Alright, picture this – I’m on a quest to find that elusive “cool coffee shop,” armed with lists from other bloggers who’ve kindly dished out recommendations for spots near me. Dripp in Fullerton seemed to reign supreme, basking in the glory of top rankings from several of those lists. It’s perched in Downtown Fullerton, right next to Fullerton College – a bustling hub for the under-30 crowd. But hold on, my friends, teachers need coffee too!
I sauntered in, and it was clear from the get-go that this place was designed with students in mind. The interior had tables just wide enough to cradle a standard laptop, individual round tables, and even an outdoor patio for some al fresco caffeine-fueled studying sessions. And, let me tell you, those tables were packed!
The baristas? Pleasant. I ordered a ham and cheese baguette, washed down with a delightful lavender iced matcha. It was delish, to say the least.
Now, here’s where the plot twist happens – as much as I hoped to see some potential, this coffee shop wasn’t exactly a hotspot for love connections. Even the young gents were deep into their laptop screens. I mean, it’s like the collegiate version of a library in there. I tallied 13 females and a grand total of about 4 guys, all of whom barely looked a day over 25.
So, I decided to gracefully “dip Dripp.” I mean, not just sip but full-on dip! But let’s add a dash of drama to this story – as I made my exit, I locked eyes with a mysterious man. Was he a wandering soul or an older student suffering from a few too many party nights? As I walked to my car, he started hollering, “Excuse me, Lady!” Ignoring him, I quickened my pace, but his cries were hot on my heels. Just when things were looking dire, a tall young student strolled toward me. I couldn’t resist saying, “Hello,” and asked him to play along like he knew me. His immediate response? “Oh, is somebody stalking you?” – LOL! He kindly continued walking me to my car, and I made a hasty getaway. Thank you, Mystery Hero Student, wherever you are!
And there’s the kicker – the parking lot. It was swarming with cars right in front of the shop, so I had to park farther away in a more open lot. Even though it felt fairly safe, there wasn’t much foot traffic at noon, and it could be a tad isolating, especially for a single lady fending off unwanted advances.
So, I thought, “Why not try a different kind of place?” Something more mature. I googled “Golf Courses” and set my sights on the Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton.
As for my overall rating on the “meet-single-men-over-40” scale: Out of 5, Dripp scored a grand total of 2. But fear not, dear readers, for the adventure continues!
Positive: Lots of seating and spacious ambiance.
Negative: Saturation of students. Study atmosphere over social.
